re: Barry's comment about publishers losing by sitting around and waiting
for a technological solution to copyrighting

Barry:

C'mon. The publishers are among the so-called "educated" interests opposing
the entrance of the local and inter- exchange carriers into the information
services market! Why should such a backward minded industry spearhead an
obvious application of such technology?

The problem, of course, is that not just "the publishers" but *all* of us
are losing by their policies.
