Lars,
I don't really understand why you are amazed.
If you are able to send bits over the NSFNet, then you must have
agreed to acceptable use rules of some kind. These imply that you have
agreed not to engage in 'commercial' activities across the NSFNet with
commercial companies. You *are* allowed to engage in R&E activities
with such companies. Therefore, you should have direct connectivity to
pursue R&E activities with dialog.com should any such activities
between your two companies arise.
