Where's Mr. Protocol when we need him :-)?

On a more serious note, I must agree with Kent at the moment. I find
com-priv to be voluminous, and occasionally entertaining, but neither
enlightening nor useful.

I think the current state of internetworking in this country is a disgrace.
I realize that many of the people involved have good intentions, and that
it is particularly hard to accomplish anything when Congress is involved,
but that doesn't make the problem go away. As an interested observer, I
see a lot of handwaving and frustration all around. If anyone from outside
the network community (Congress, Ralf Nader, the mainstream press, etc.)
decides to peer closely at things as they are, I think a lot of people
will be unhappy, and perhaps in trouble.

Now, far be it from me to predict the imminent death of "the net" :-), but
I must admit that I'm getting about as fed up with things as John and Eliot
seem to be. If *I'm* that irritated, I shudder to think of how people
running regionals and commercial nets are feeling.

Has it occurred to anyone that the current "policies" about connectivity
and traffic seem to require The Thought Police in order to be effectively
implemented? What is wrong with this picture?`
