The thread about credit cards and the net prompts me to pose

a general query: Are there any businesses accepting credit card
orders over the net, either via email or other mechanisms?
If so, how do these businesses deal with the obvious security
    and fraud concerns?

Normally while certain business transactions take place over the net most of
our customers choose to fax or call in their credit card info. We retain
the info and they can then just say to use the card info on file. By shipping
to the billing address for the card<and requiring the purchaser to provide this
info> you eliminate much of the fraud<having a credit card # and even a billing
address doesn't mean someone will fly from NY to CA and sit on someones doorstep
waiting on UPS to bring a package>. As for security on the customers side....
if their # does get exposed they don't have much risk. Most any transaction
without a signature<phone/voice/email/etc> will be chargedback without question.
It's the merchant that is at risk to show their was a valid transaction.
