No I ain't, I often argue loud and clear (as opposed to my other
style) that such a thing is not possible nor desireable.
What I don't want is the govt creating things like encyclopaedias
whose only likely result would be to put encyclopaedia companies out
of business.
Granted that's a small field which is part of the problem of the
example.
But don't you see the role of helping people get at resources like the
way public libraries get people at print resources right now probably
a better focus than trying to create those resources out of whole
cloth?
Even research studies are largely done by people who don't work for
the govt (i.e. are funded but basically independent), tho I realize
there's also a lot that goes on directly w/in the govt (e.g. CDC.)
