Your statement about the meeting ending early and why should they hang
around implies that the decision was made the preceeding day rather than
between 9 AM and 10 AM...... the time period of the closed session and the
time period between which the friend was told that the meeting was "on" and
the time he arrived only to be told the meeting was off.  They apparently
arrived at 9 AM expecting to be there until 11:30 am.  just curous about the
ver
y sudden change of plans.

As far as Steve is concerned.  If it was never intended that he speak at the
open session, it would be enlightening to know who from CISE was going to
speak
and about what subject.  Did CISE have something before the Board having
NOTHING to do with NSF93-52?  Perhaps.  Curious as to what however.  A public
presentation by anyone from CISE on NSF93-52 would have been of interest.
