I have been following the routing software deployment / upgrade that
ANS is in the process of making. So far I have seen only minor technical
problems that have been corrected very fast. I fully approve of the logic
that ANS is using to determine what, where and when the upgrades will take
place. This is not to say that everything will be perfect - Heck just ask
Bill Gates about Dos upgrades! Overall I would rate the current upgrade a
9 on the scale of one to ten. A while back I watched ANS make operating
system upgrades and the same care was taken. Its not to say that there
were no problems but, the way the network is setup, ANS can re-configure
a site to its prior conditions if the upgrade has problems. That config.
change can take place in a matter of minutes and the ANS people have alot
of experience in this area.

The new software will allow better, faster control over their network.
Anyone who sends traffic across their net will also see the benefits.
Detection of problems will happen much faster , corrective action will
be able to be applied and effected faster. Packets will be routed far
better than before.

I will be posting weekly reports on various aspects of IP networks. ANS
willnot be the only network that I comment on and I will try to keep the
reports simple and painless, so those of you who are not that technical
will be able to benefit.
