Specifically, there has been a significant change in the way the list is
being handled, in two ways:
1) The envelope from of the list is no longer set to
postman@lists.psi.com. This is incorrect and should be fixed --
bounces now go to the originator of the message instead of the list
owner.
2) The list is no longer segmented into approx 20 portions
like it used to be. This meant that for a site whose SMTP server never
went down, com-priv messages would be delivered ~3min or so. Now, they
are around 3/4 of an hour because sendmail on lists.psi.com has to run
the whole queue. One of the great things about com-priv has been it's
very fast response time; it enables discussions to happen on a
timeframe that's not possible on some other lists.
It would be nice if someone at PSI could tell us exactly _why_ these
changes were made and whether they could be reversed ASAP. The 2nd
is somewhat understandable as it reduces the load on PSI's machines,
but the first never cost them anything...
