We had an 'incident' here where a low-level manager wanted to make a lot of
fellow IS people aware of some 'bad' politics in his county. So he composed
his PROFS note and sent it out. First thing he did wrong, was it was a
local issue and only 10% at best of us live in his county. Second the first
time he sent it to all of MIS, he did not turn off listing the CCs. So
1,000 IS people got a 2 screen message prefixed by a 50 page list of
everyone in IS. He realized his mistake, so he RESENT the message, but this
time, instead of all of IS, it went to all PROFS users, all 14,000. He did
reach more people in his county this way, but this was viewed as
inappropriate use of corporate computing power. It appearantly showed up on
his apprasail at the end of the year...

Now if you want to do a mass distribution, you send it off to HR and they do
it. Lots of stuff comes my way from them signed by others, but for
political browbeating, you have to go read the bulliten boards by the coffee
machines (that get purged every two weeks...).
