The Matlab 4.2 release will occur sometime today. The following changes
have been made to the Matlab locker:
1. The default version of Matlab is now 4.2. The previous
version can be accessed with the "matlab41" command
2. Matlab 3.5 has been moved to a seperate locker, with
access by request to matlab-request@mit
3. The following Toolboxes have been updated for both
Matlab 4.1 and Matlab 4.2
Image processing
Mu Tools
Optimization
Signal
Symbolic
Robust Control
The changes range from bug fixes to major updates.
4. The contrib directory is in the process of being updated
to include most of the contributed software from the
Mathworks ftp site.
Release notes for Matlab 4.2 are available in postscript form
in /mit/matlab/doc/Matlab4.2/relnotes4.2.ps
Matlab 4.2 is primarily a bug fix release. New features include:
1. "doc" command -- the Matlab reference guide is available
through Mosaic
2. "print" command -- now supports saving a plot for reloading
also can produce postscript output compatible
with Adobe Illustrator
3. New commands for reading and writing data files including
csv, ascii seperated and wk1 formats
4. GUI additions include warning, help and question dialog
boxes.
5. International character set support
