The Andrew File System (AFS) is a major part of the Athena
Environment, providing file access to every user of the system. As
Resnet expands connectivity to the dorm, it will be necessary to
provide file service to users' home machines. This summer I have been
porting AFS to Linux, a free Unix-like OS for Intel-based machines.
This talk will center around the differences between the Linux kernel
and the AFS hooks needed to tie into it. In particular, I plan to
convey the major differences between Linux and other Operating Systems
for which AFS exists, and maybe give a demonstration of Linux-AFS in
action (code willing). I do not plan to be overly technical, however
I do plan to cover some filesystem specifics.
Hope to see you there! Feel free to pass this on to anyone I may have
forgotten in the headers.
