Hi!
While I certainly admire the fact that you all are ardent supporters
of the athena rules of use, I'd like to discourage you from getting
involved in confrontations with people who are violating those rules.
If you see or are notified of someone violating one of the rules, you
can point out to them that they are violating the rule and ask that
they stop. If they do stop, fine. If not, depending on the situation,
you may want to stop discussing the matter with them and report it to
someone else. The first section about the Rules of Use in OLH says:
If you need assistance in dealing with someone willfully
violating these rules, feel free to call the Athena Operations
Hotline, x3-1410.
Please do that! If someone is causing actual physical damage or is
threatening to harm people, call the CP's and let them deal with it.
If you think that you're in over your head, just back off and report
the problem to someone else.
If you want to talk to someone about something that's going on, you
can always call me at home 623-2833 (MAD-CUFF, if that's easier to
remember) *any time*. If I'm at home, I'd be happy to help you no
matter when it is.
Like Doug Llewellyn says, "Don't take the law into your own hands..."
Thanks, and please let me know if you have any questions about any of
this.
Carla
