I was able to do what you describe (use a draft as a composition and
edit it) with no trouble.
Does this behavior happen consistently?
If not, then I suspect you lost write access to your drafts folder or
something. If so, then you'll have to demonstrate it to me so that I
can figure out what's causing it.
