In the Dapps-books-database meeting (DApps-books), I am getting the error
discuss (list): Connection reset by peer Can't read transaction info
The situation was this: Two users were entering transactions into the
database, one using the MacDiscuss interface, and one using a DEC3100
that is running 7.4. The user on the DEC was using a C program which
I wrote, which basically creates a file, writes user input to the file,
closes the file, and then pipes it into discuss. The program had been
used already several times and seemed to work fine.
The user using the mac tried to send a transaction to the meeting and
was unable to do so. She then listed the transactions, and discovered that
there were three identical transactions that had the same number; i.e.,
transaction 38. She tried to display this transaction and got the error
"Not a typewriter" on her screen. I tried to get at the transation
using both emacs and tty interface, and I get the above error.
What seems to be happening is that something in that transaction
is causing the client to lose contact with zeus. I don't know if
the problem is in MacDiscuss, or in my program, or if zeus just
caused a connection to go awry at a critical moment. If you
find out I would like to know, so I can prevent this from happening
in the future.
