Display type: apa16
What were you trying to do?
Turn off keyboard beep, by any means possible. It is an incredibly
annoying "feature" (to use the term loosely) and I can see no reason
why anyone would ever want it --- and even if they did, it is
amazingly rude to those near them who have to listen to it.
What's wrong:
There is, as far as I can tell, no way to turn off keyboard beep. The
man page for xset implies that that command should be able to do it,
but none of the following commands, in sequence, turned off the beep.
xset -b
xset b 0
xset b 100
xset b 0
What should have happened:
Something should have turned off the keyboard beep
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
man page for xset.
Note -- I've had similar problems on an RS/6000 in building 4.
