Using the symbol "bar" (for the overbar) in eq, generates a "syntax
error" in the xterm you start eq from, when you preview or try to print.
This happens only for the case of "bar" (you can get it by doing an
"Insert Symbol" and then typing in "bar", to get an overbar over the
character just to the left of the text cursor). Equations that preview
and print fine generate a syntax error the moment a "bar" is inserted
into the equation, at any point.
The preview window and print processes just spin-cycle...
