I've been using MH 6.7.1 with the MIT enhancements for several months now.
Recently, I approached the maintainer of MH to add those enhancements to the
standard distribution of MH. He agreed and it has been done. I will do what
I can to test this software, but was hoping that MIT might get involved. I
really think having Kerberos included in the standard distribution of MH
will go a long way to further the claim of Kerberos as a "de facto" standard
and MIT involvement will ensure the success of this endeavor. Do you think
you could see if someone in Project Athena would be willing to get
involved???

I have a few more things I want to merge in before putting
out a beta-test release. I expect to have the release ready
by the end of the week.
This release will contain a lot of bug fixes, and changes
since the MH 6.7.2 release which just came out. These include:
Multi-media mail (announced on comp.mail.mh)
md5 authenticated POP
KERBEROS support with POP
SVR4 support
changes to the date parser to handle 4-digit years
26 user sequences instead of 10 (on 32-bit machines)
and a bunch of other stuff I've forgotten about.
Cheers,
/JLR

Subject: MH 6.7.4a beta release
Greetings,
The MH beta release is now ready. There are still a few known
bugs in this release. They're mostly obscure things you wouldn't
run into unless you were looking. I have fixes for most of them,
and I'm working on them now.
Here's how to get it:
ftp ics.uci.edu
>user anonymous
>password guest
>cd pub/mh/.beta/tar
>binary
>get mh-6.7.4a.tar.Z
Please send bug reports to "mh@ics.uci.edu" (you can send to
"bug-mh" instead, if you want an automated reply -- both
addresses otherwise go to the same place). Feel free to "cc"
comments to mh-beta@ics.uci.edu if you think the other
beta-testers might be interested.
The mh6.7 changes document doesn't reflect the changes from
6.7.2. I'll try to get a summary out -- the changes are quite
extensive and reading through a diff to see what changed takes a
while. The READ-ME (aka mh-gen.8) does reflect the new
options. Be sure to read it carefully, since a few options have
changed. In particular, sys5 shared libs should be supported
now.
As usual, you can't print the ADMIN guide until after you've
configured the system (which you usually can't do without that
guide). This should be fixed before this release finishes beta
testing. For now, use your old config file, or the generic "MH"
file to config the system, and then you can generate the guide.
Then go back and re-configure as needed.
There's a new program "mhn" (with man page), and some stuff in
misceallany/multi-media which describes the multi-media changes.
Thanks for your help & good luck,
/JLR
