What were you trying to do?
Detach lockers attached by other people.
What's wrong:
I succeeded.
What should have happened:
I should have failed.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
None, really, but I'll at least tell you how I do this.
Upon typing ``attach'', I see that /mit/sipb has been mounted by foo,
bar, baz, and mjbauer. I decide that I'd like to be the only person
who has sipb attached. So....
attach -f sipb
(it tells me that sipb is already attached.)
attach
(among other things, the entry for /mit/sipb has disappeared from the
list. In the previous version, there would be two entries for
/mit/sipb in the list, both in the name of mjbauer alone)
detach -f sipb sipb
(it detaches sipb (unless someone is actually in the directory) and
then tells me that sipb isn't attached)
attach
(still no entry for /mit/sipb in the listing. In the previous
version, now is when there would be no entry for /mit/sipb in the
listing)
attach sipb
(says that sipb is already symlinked, and does the attach)
attach
(shows /mit/sipb in the name of mjbauer alone)
This sequence also works for NFS lockers, with the appropriate
differences in the commentary from attach.
I don't do this out of malice, just when an attached locker is in the
names of a bunch of people who have logged out (usually a batch of
UIDs). I'm just anal-retentive that way, I guess :-). However, I'm
not sure if this is a Good Thing for me (and others) to be able to do
or not. You, o God(esse)s of Athena, get to figure this one out. I'm
just Joe Random User.
Have fun!
