strange edsc error

After typing M-x discuss-restart and trying to get a discuss meetings
list, I got this error:

	Edsc returned error: nil

I'm using epoch 4.0 on an RT, which is possibly relevant (I doubt it
matters, but it might).

I've never seen this before.
