What were you trying to do?
Use matlab. Actually, I was trying to enter data using the number pad.
What's wrong:
Instead of seeing "123456789" when I used the number pad, I saw "qrstuvwxy"
What should have happened:
I should have seen "123456789"

What?
Remarks:
I was on a vax 3100, and the numbers on top of the keyboard worked
fine. The number pad gave me reasonable results (i.e. 123456789) in
an xterm window.
