The professor was not logged into the same machine. nor
was the student ever logged into the same dialup machine
as the professor.
I hope you can figure out what is going on, too many
people take it for granted that person messages will
not go to the wrong subscriber. I was taken by
surprise.
Could someone have changed the host managers on those
machines? e40-008-{6,10}?

Was the professor logged in earlier in the day on the same
dialup that
the student was logged in on when you sent the message?
If so, this is a bug I have already reported. Fixing it right
requires changing the server, and that hasn't happened in
years.
