System name: valhalla
Type and version:	CVAXSTAR 7.3N (1 update(s) to same version)
Display type: SM

What were you trying to do?
login to my account (on aphrodite) during aphrodite's downtime

What's wrong:
After being unable to locate my homedir, xlogin did not offer me
the option of logging in with a temporary home directory, but
instead just went back to the login screen after trying (once
or twice depending on my answer to the try again? question)

What should have happened:
I should have been allowed access to my account with a temporary
	home directory

Please describe any relevant documentation references:
olh - common questions about accounts #20
says you should be able to do everything you need to do when your
fileserver is down except work on existing files

imo, this is a major bug -- people with problem sets to do need to be able
to access their athena accounts at all times -- it is bad enough to not
be able to access your files!
