I note that your user name begins with 'd'; there is a known problem
that the state of the control key isn't necessarily correct when you
drop out of the X server. If the system thinks that the control key is
down, then it will see the 'd' as ^D, and exit from the login prompt
(and return to the X server.) You may want to try hitting the control
key after you get the login: prompt, and then releasing it, and *then*
typing your username.
