What were you trying to do?
MORE=d more file1 file2 file3
What's wrong:
When more gets to the end of the first file, it prints the
message "More (next file: file2) Press space to continue or q to quit"
on two lines in reverse video. When I press space to continue it erases
only the last reverse-video line, leaving one that ends "space to co" or
somesuch.
What should have happened:
Both reverse-video lines should be erased before going to the
next file.
