logging in without a file server

At our consultants meeting tonight, several consultants reported that when
users try to log in:
when their file server is down
and then choose the
yes, continue
option, their workstation reboots. The consultants claim that this happens
consistently, and have observed this behavior on both DECstations and VS2s.
Please respond to me (and to cfyi, if appropriate) regarding this problem.
