Date: Tue, 6 Sep 88 01:48:57 EDT From: Mark Lillibridge <chariot@ATHENA.MIT.EDU> To: bugs@ATHENA.MIT.EDU Reply-To: chariot@ATHENA.MIT.EDU Note that if you already have a filesystem attached in a non-standard place and try and attach a filesystem normally you will get: vulcan [50]% attach probe probe: Already attached...mapping However, it does *not* actually attach the filesystem in its normal place: vulcan [51]% ls /mit/probe /mit/probe not found I suspect this is likely to screw up scripts, etc. People should not assume that because attach returns with no errors that the filesystem has indeed been attached in its default location. In particular, shell scripts of the form: attach foo /mit/foo/... will fail if the previous user of the workstation left foo mounted somewhere else. - Mark
