I don't know that I'd call it a "problem" with the resolv
library, it is certainly a characteristic. It is arguable
whether shortcuts like telnetting to foo.ai when you're
not in the ai.mit.edu domain should be permitted from a
purity standpoint. It's a matter of whether you permit
relative names that are not in your domain to be legal
at the application level.
