A user came into the SIPB office who had somehow managed to killoff
both dash and mwm by accident. She was a freshman, and apparently
didn't even know how to kill mwm had she wanted, which she didn't.
The interesting thing was this: I personally went to her workstation
and showed her:
a) how to start dash: namely: dash
NOTE: I typed dash into an xterm. I did not know
whether or not dash would fork itself into the
background, so I did ^z and then bg. This gave
no error, so dash hadn't forked itself off yet.
Dash started fine.
b) how to start mwm: namely: mwm& (including the & this time)
INTERESTING STUFF: when mwm came up, dash exited, no error, no dialog,
no nothing. ps waux said no dash process.
I tried this on a default account on a 7.3 RT and was unable to
reproduce, but it was so interesting that I decided to send it in
anyway...
Have fun with this one!

P.S. it was mentioned in the office that this might be considered a
feature, not a bug, by many... :^)
