What were you trying to do?
decrypt a file encrypted with the UNIX crypt(1) command.
What's wrong:
/usr/athena/bin/crypt is not installed on the RS/6000.
What should have happened:
We decided to provide crypt with ULTRIX 4.2, since DEC decided
to remove it. If crypt is going to be in /usr/athena/bin on that
machine, effectively making it part of the layered Athena Computing
Enviroment, then either binaries or symlinks should be installed for
crypt on all of the Athena platforms. I should not have to log into
another machine in order to use crypt.
