Actually, there are two stages of testing...
"Friendly test", which follows all changes in the release and starts as
soon as it is relatively stable (ie. we can login and the machine
doesn't crash).
"Staff test"... this is usually a bit more stable, and may lag "Friendly
test" machines. (This release seems to be the exception -- both Staff
Test releases have needed RVD patching, whereas no friendly test machine
had problems because of its mode of delivery).
We can add your machines to either one. Simply send a list of machines,
what type they are, and which type of packs (staff or friendly) that you
wish them to use, to <rel-eng@mit.edu>. The change takes effect one day
after we process it... (usually the same day we get the request).
Until last week, the answer to this question was not as simple; there
had been no decision/policy regarding putting non-staff machines into
testing.
