What were you trying to do?
Use athena dialup. I want any "ctrl-s" I type to be passed to
athena, not be intercepted by the dialup pad's flow control.
What's wrong:
When I use dialup from 258-7000, there is no problem. Flow
Control is not on and any "Ctrl-s" I type gets passed to
athena with no problem.
When I use dialup from a digital phone calling 7007000, for
some reason the dialup pad's flow control is turned on, and
it intercepts each "ctrl-s" I type, stopping output until I
type a corresponding "ctrl-q".
I can manually fix this by typing:
terminal flowcontrol none
at the PASTA.MIT.EDU> prompt each time I dial in.;
What should have happened:
There should not be a difference between the two methods in
using dialup. In particular, the dialup pad should not have flow
control turned on by default. It is confusing, and hard to
figure out what happened.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
I asked an OLC question on problems I had with this about two
months ago that never got satisfactorily answered. It should
be in the logs.
