1) Section 2.3 -- "The following is a list of files that are commonly
reference by absolute pathnames..."
The list includes /usr/athena/emacs, should it also
include emacsclient ?
2) Section 2.1 -- "The basic new directory structure supported on all
platforms..."
I think I know what you're driving at, that some of these
directories have moved, but I can't really understand what
you mean to say. Can this be organized or emphasized or
something?
(I know that you already know what you mean, you always do,
but that's not why you put this doc together, is it? :-)
3) 2.6 Emacs version 18.57, "Selection, cut, and paste works like x
term"
Not really:
-- Drag-Left-button doesn't seem to select
-- Selecting still doesn't hi-light ("Of course it doesn't
high-light," you reply, "Emacs never high-lights." But we've
never advertised "works like xterm" before.
4) 2.6 Emacs version 18.57, "Ctrl-Shift <middle-button> ... will bring
up help menus"
Doesn't seem to.
5) 2.7 Andrew, 2nd bullet "it's failure"
"It's" is the contraction, you want the possessive: "its"
6) 2.7 Andrew, page 9 New features, Emacs/VI toggle "the keycommand
!ESC?t will toggle..." (with upside-down ! and ?)
That would be hard to type. Probably you mean something else.
7) 2.7 Andrew, pg 9, raw file mode, "Note: There is an
Inconvenient mis-feature: if you already have a buffer of
the same file..."
This isn't really inconvenient or a mis-feature, but
something with lots of usage implications that would have to
be figured out if it didn't do EXACTLY WHAT IT'S CURRENTLY
DOING. You might just say instead, "NOTE: If you
already..."
(Pass this along to Cattey; I'll be happy to help
him frob around with any possible changes to this -- AFTER
we live through the release.)
8) New Emacs release (change not mentioned in notes) -- Under some
circumstances, fill-paragraph no longer removes extra spaces in
a line. I can't reproduce this regularly yet, but you might
keep your eye out for reports of this behavior.
The doc contains a tremendous amount of material, and I'm glad to have
it. I hope that these notes help you.
