I often log on from Athena to a VMS system. When I telnet to the system, and
use EMACS, the screen always behaves very strangely. Letters blank out, the
cursor skips, etc. Refreshing the screen using the emacs command fixes it up,
temporarily (until a few more characters are typed).
I just started using rlogin.ucb, and the problems no longer occur. I think
there is some kind of bug or feature in Telnet that causes the problem.
