What were you trying to do?
Use the "library access" option of xlogin.
What's wrong:
In the console window, two lines appear:
Starting mwm window manager...
[...]
/mit/library/rtbin/timer: not an RT executable
What should have happened:
This account doesn't need a window manager. I'd rather start
up 30 seconds faster than be able to move the window around.
/mit/library/rtbin/timer should either be an RT program or
not exist.
/mit/library/.startup.X sets $XENVIRONMENT to a pathname
beginning with "/afs/athena/astaff". The pathname should
either (1) be changed to refer to a file in /mit/library
or (2) be changed to /afs/athena/system/... The contents
of /afs/athena/astaff should never be referenced except by
astaff or using a hesiod filesystem name.
