I stand corrected. The version of xdvi in the SIPB locker is, in fact,
more recent than the one in the current release. (Patchlevel 11 vs.
Patchlevel 10.) However it turns out that that one patch is what is
causing the crooked lines in the table's in darford's example. (I
compiled and ran the old version, applied patch 11, and *poof*---instant
new bug/feature.) I will send a message describing this problem to the
person who seems to be responsible for xdvi at the moment.
