  Hi,

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it seems to be happening with such
regularity, that I don't believe it's coincidental anymore.

It happens when re-installing software. After the system has been
re-installed, (I've encountered the problem on VS2000's and MVII (BA123)),
when the system gets to the point: "Setting up network", it will just
sit there. Eventually, the error message: "cannot open file /etc/net.conf.
Insufficient information. Aborting. Contact Athena Operations". and halts.

I've gotten "around" this by manually entering the file /etc/net.conf.
and the system seems happy and bootable after that. However, I've seen
the same message "cannot open..", but it then sets up the network and
finds it address/machine name/gateway and boots up fine.

I've tried different servers for installation and get the same results.
(I've tried making new install media also).

I know nothing could have changed overnight, but just curious what the
messages mean (obviously, the file is not there so it won't boot up...
but any more in depth info would be much appreciated.)

    Thanks,
    Rita DiCecca (Athena Hardware Hotline)

ps- it doesn't happen on every software re-install on every system!
