What were you trying to do?
Using the vaxstation 3100 'klimt', I was running Xess and sending the
display to another workstation. This has happened on several kinds of
machines at different times. I was trying to fill in the motif dialog
box text widgets for things like X range, Y range and Z range. Other
dialog boxes are also affected, like Label text for any axes or for the
chart title, and the last one it happened to was the filename box in
FileSave dialog box.
What's wrong:
In all cases I was unable to get characters to be typed into the little
boxes. The mouse was able to put the text pointer into the box, and
by using the mouse to select cells and ranges I was able to get them
entered in the box, but the KEYBOARD was never directed into the box.
It's almost like the keyboard focus was being sent to the wrong place.
It didn't happen immediately, but after a while, and then it stayed
broken.
What should have happened:
The characters I typed should have gone into the text widget; instead
they seemed either to be passed back to the main application window or
they were just lost entirely.
