The manpage for TeX, etc. says that it searches for font metric files in
the path specified by the environment variable TEXTFM. This is
incorrect, however. It looks in TEXFONTS.
hodge% strings /usr/athena/tex | grep TEX
TEXFORMATS
TEXINPUTS
TEXFONTS
TEXPOOL
TEXEDIT
hodge%
