   Try again, jik.  Mark Eichin is doing it.  It may require kernel
   hacks, but I think it only requires a special telnetd.  He uses it on
   charon now, I believe.  Ask him for details.

  I am quite aware that it is possible to write code that allows
disconnecting from and reconnecting to telnet sessions.

  When I said "our current Operating System", I meant, "with the
standard set of utilities that we currently use and do not intend to
replace."  We are not going to replace telnetd in the forseeable
future.
