I can't use M-left and M-right to move by the word on the command line
   (lineedit) any more.

By "M-left" and "M-right" do you mean M-b and M-f or M-left-arrow and
M-right-arrow?

The former works fine for me. And, as far as I know, the latter has
never worked. Holding down the Meta key and pressing either arrow key
produces the same key sequence as is produced when you're not holding
down the Meta key; there's no way for the shell to tell that you're
holding down Meta.

In order for M-b and M-f to work, you need to have "set lineedit" in
either your .cshrc.mine or .tcshrc file (assuming that you have the
default .cshrc file).
