In september, you sent the bug report included below to "bugs". It
has taken until now for a response to be sent because there was a
period over the summer and the beginning of the term when a large
backlog of bugs developed, and now that the term is over I'm getting a
chance to go through and resolve all those old reports.
In any case, I have some questions about your report. When this
happened, what did you do to get the screensaver to unsave? Did you
hit a key? Did you press a mouse button? Something else?
I've never seen this happen before, and I don't think there's enough
information in your report for us to track down the problem right now,
but I'll keep an eye out for similar reports.

What were you trying to do?
To get back to the prompt after the screen saver had gone into effect.
No processes were running other than the (default) screensaving
routine (not xscreensaver). The machine had completed all
initialization before the screensaver kicked in and had displayed
an Athena prompt on all three windows. The black and white background
called "/mit/xpix/pictures/farside.dmp.Z" was in background at the
time.
What's wrong:
Did not revert from the background saved to normal mode even after
30 minutes of waiting (I'm still waiting now).
What should have happened:
Should have removed the background overlay and "X" logo, thereby
uncovering the 3 opened xterm windows and console window, along
with 3 blinking prompts.
