It's so slow! I don't know if this is just because it's a test
machine, but I kept pressing keys at the initial prompt because it didn't
appear to be doing anything; everything was just appallingly slow. I hope
that this is just because this is a test, not because the next release will
be neccessarily be like this.
The reason things were so slow for you is that you were using the
Microvax II test machine. The Microvax II is our slowest platform, as
I'm sure you noticed.
On each platform we support, the new login interface is significantly
faster than the old one. Comparisons between platforms, however, are
pretty much meaningless.
