My xlogout didn't come out iconic, even though I have the line
xlogout*iconic: True
in my ~/.Xresources.
In release 7.2, which you were running since you were on a test
workstation, the logout button is put up by a program called dash, not
by xlogout. Therefore, in order to achieve this effect, you should
put the following in your .Xresources:
dash*logoutButton*iconic: true
For more information, see the man page for dash and the file
/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/Dash on any test workstation (or in the dash
locker).
