I've been seeing this problem for a while now, but only recently
figured out what was going on.
Sometimes when I attempt to open an xterm the following would happen:
When I click the left mouse button to create the window, the outline
disappears, and then it prompts me to create "unnamed window" which
has a size larger than my screen. If I click the mouse, this window
too will disappear.
This happens if the xterm exits (such as rlogin to a host that
refuses) before the user places the window on the screen. One could
argue that it is OK for uwm to continue asking the user to place the
window, but it should then ask the user to place "unnamed window" too.
