Ever since the beginning of this term, I've had problems with
processes of the previous user still not killed after his logout, taking up
working memory space that makes applications like Latex, xterm, etc.,
impossible ("no swap space" and "not enough memory" are the errors I got).
Everytime, I've had to become root and explicitly kill those processes.
Might there be a bug in the default logout sequence? Following is
