as a followup, these lines only remain on the screen if the file to be unloaded
causes the question line to wrap around the line boundary:
unload /afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5/build/pmax_ul3/lib/crc-32/libcrc32.a: no/ye
unload /afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5/build/pmax_ul3/lib/des/libdes.a: no/yes/qui
unload /afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5/build/pmax_ul3/lib/kdb/libkdb.a: no/yes/qui
unload /afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5/build/pmax_ul3/lib/os/libos.a: no/yes/quit
unload /afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/krb5/build/pmax_ul3/lib/libkrb5.a: no/yes/quit [
this is probably the root bug of the previous problem.
