When patch is being used to modify a file which is a symlink to an
unwritable file, it loses. There are two failures:
1. It prints something like
patch: can't backup acl_files.c, output is in /tmp/patcho007774
2. If patching multiple files, it uses the same temporary filename
when attempting to patch the next file:
patch: can't create /tmp/patcho007774.
