What were you trying to do?

Use "ez2ascii" to convert a user (carmen)'s file from ez to ascii. (He
had encountered a problem, and asked about it through OLC, so I tried
it myself.)

What's wrong:
It converts part of the text correctly, and then begins inserting
spaces. The file seems to grow without bounds; the user filled up
29Meg on /site on his workstation when he tried it in /tmp, and my
copy of the file got up to 1.3 Meg before I stopped it (and then had
to remove the .ascii file, so that I could get below quota)
(The initial ez file was 55K)

What should have happened:

It should have just converted the formatting commands, and not
included a million spaces.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:

none.

Other info:

The ez file is available in /mit/carla/carmen.ez

You should be able to run ez2ascii on it, and reproduce my results.
Watch out for your quota, though!

				Thanks!

					Carla
