problems with zwgc

zwgc seems to work ok, but periodically i get :
P^ZAZPPPYPYXU zQYhBYPYoZO ZPPPYPYXU zQYhBYPYoZO CP^ZAZPPPYPYXU
thrown at the screen. whilst not a major problem in itself,
it might point to something more serious. i've seen it on other dialup
vaxen as well, but not on rt's.
This doesn't sound like problems with zwgc; it sounds like there's
line noise on the telephone line causing occasional bursts of garbage
characters.
I know of nothing in zwgc which would produce anything like what you
sent above.
