What's wrong:
The printf manpage still does not mention that _doprnt (printf,
fprintf, sprintf) returns an int containing the number of characters
actually output.
What should have happened:
It should be documented.
While we're at it, perhaps there should be a BUGS section mentioning
that it does no error trapping.
